Well tonight's gonna be a quick one because I have report cards due in THREE DAYS! Yikes!! Plus TONS of grading and (most importantly?) the Bachelor - The Women Tell All to watch . . . So you might say I'm a bit busy.
However there is much to catch up on.
Like the end of Ski Week - it was great. I got to stay home with Baby Jack and just enjoy being mommy for a week. We went to the little local zoo (twice!) had playdates, went to the park, and . . . shared our first In-N-Out lunch date! (If you have never had In-N-Out before you will not understand the significance of this event . . .)
Of course Jack had to have his own burger and shake. Sheesh!
Then last week was Read Across America Week, and the kiddos in Room 17 were busy finding rhyming words, writing the room, listening to Dr. Seuss books, practicing ABC order, unscrambling sentences . . . In fact there was SO MUCH Seussical goodness that some of it spilled over into this week too, and we are still having fun! Here are some of our class's favorite things from my Read Across America unit:
Read Across America ABC's . . . the kids LOVED it!
Looking for rhymes in Dr. Seuss books!
And best of all . . . writing about their favorite "nonesenssical" book and WHY they like it! (Insert proud teacher face HERE!)
To go along with our writing activity, we also did a step-draw activity of the Cat in the Hat:
Which then got put into a collage of writing and art for our Kindergarten bulletin board in the main hall!
But alas . . . it is already March 4th (yikes!) which means that the Cat in the Hat is behind us and next up . . . is leprechauns!!!
Today we did a step-draw of a leprechaun and the kids wrote some juicy sentences about their leprechauns. (P.S. The pointy-toed shoes are my FAVORITE!)
And also, in getting ready for all things St. Patty's Day-ish, I have a brand new TPT unit that I can't wait to use with my kiddos: Lads, Lassies & Leprechauns {Math and Literacy Centers for March} - click the image below to check it out in my TPT store!
Here's what's included:
1. Bagpipes & Blarney Sentence Scramble (reading, sight words, comprehension)
2. Over the Rainbow Beginning & Ending Sounds (phonemic awareness)
3. Pot 'O Gold CVC Words (reading CVC words)
4. Luck of the Irish Write the Room
5. Feelin' Green - Rainbow Word Practice (practice of color words)
6. Corned Beef and Cabbage Number Lineup (numbers & sequencing to 50)
7. Magicallly Delicious Math Graph (sorting, graphing, counting)

9. Mulligan Stew More & Less (comparing numbers)
10. Merry Leprechauns Making 10's (addition facts with sums of 10)
Whew! I guess that's about it for now . . . I'm off to claim my cozy spot on the couch and control of the clicker before my husband beats me there!! (Yes, he watches The Bachelor with me . . . But shhhh! Don't tell him I told you that!)
Have a good night y'all! Chat soon!
