Sidenote: Nobody told me that one of the hardest parts of motherhood would be how fast the time goes!  How am I the mother of a (practically) one year old??!!

Sidenote #2: Are you still allowed to use the excuse "I just had a baby" when rationalizing your muffin top even when your "baby" is over a year old?  Input please! :)

Spring into Spring!! TPT and FREEBIES!

Here is a little something to make you giggle. One of my cutiest cuties drew this picture when we were studying the -ank word family. I about D.I.E.D from laughter last night whilst grading a mountain of papers from last week!!

What the WHAT?? Is that not the raddest thing you have ever seen?? 

Last, but not least, here are a three FREEBIES for you. Simple little diddies, but I use them in my class every week and they work really well for my kidlets! The first is my "Word Family Machine" paper that we do every week as a warm-up. My kids write 8 words from our chunk of the week and illustrate each word. This really increases their vocabulary AND improves their drawing skills. As you can see from the above photo, they REALLY get into it! Click below to download...

The next FREEBIE is my Number Machine (Why is everything a machine?? I have NO IDEA! I feel like it makes my kids crank out quality work, but it's probably all in my head!!)

For this one, my kids cut and paste their numbers in order, for example 1-10, and then write the number word, draw tallies, write even or odd, and write a number sentence that equals each number. I have included numbers 1-50, but I am CERTAIN I won't be using all of them. Can you imagine our kiddos drawing 50 tallies in a fairly small box?? YEESH! What a mess!

Last Freebie of the night is some Rainbow (ROYGBIV) writing paper for your kids to write about the colors of the rainbow. After we talked about colors, my kids wrote sentences, such as "Red is for apples and cherries.", etc. You get the idea, right? My kids were NOT all that excited about brainstorming things that were indigo. Indigo?? What's indigo, anywayz?? :)

Math FREEBIES, and some new TPT Goodies!

Happy Saturday Night, Peeps! Kerri here...
Well, here I am, wearing my "fat" pants, my cozy socks, and my grungiest sweatshirt on a Saturday night (Can I get an AMEN??) 


I know, I know, my husband is such a lucky fella! Tonight we took a walk and I was wearing the above items, plus a hideous scarf, AND my mukluks! I was a HOT mess. He just looked at me and shook his head. HA!! I just love being married sometimes. To be able to take a walk with a handsome man, while you look ridiculous. That is LOVE, man!


I feel like I haven't shared any Math freebies for a while, so here we go... Whilst thinking about what I need to do when I go back to work on Monday (BOO! YAY!), I was thinking that my little friends DESPERATELY need to work on counting forward and backward to 100. Actually, counting forward is pretty easy peasy for them, but counting backwards, well...let's just not recall the "counting backwards from 100" Envisions lesson where I almost pulled my hair out and came home feeling like the WORST MATH TEACHER EVER. yucky...


ANYHOO...To help them practice this RIDICULOUS FUN concept, I made this little worksheet that has BOTH counting forward and counting back from 100. You can use one or both, depending what your chitlins need. I also made a little 100's chart that they can use to help them. 


I plan on giving my kiddos numbers from 1-100 that are printed on colored cardstock and cut out, so they just pull a number, write it in the box, and either count forward or count back (depending on the worksheet). You can have them close their eyes and point to a number on the 100's mat, roll two 10-sided dice and make a number to start on, whatever floats your boat! These worksheets are NOT cutesified (THE HORROR! I know...I'm so sorry) but they will get the job done as a warm up, or math station, homework, whatevs...

On to the TPT Goodies!! 


I am SOOOO proud of my girl, Linds (aka Mrs. Messyhair! Long story, goes WAY back to our Kindergarten days together, but she LOVES LOVES LOVES when you call her that, so I highly encourage you all to do so!!) 
I have been BUGGING HER forever to put this unit on TPT, because it is SO RAD! She originally created it when she was my student teacher and she drew all of the little characters by hand (Did you know she is an AMAZING artist?? It's true!) We used her vintage edition for the next 4 years with our Kinder kiddos, and now that she gave it a facelift AND wrote her own little book to go with it (Did you know she's also an author?? I am so impressed!), it is just so awesome!


 I already bought my copy (she would've given it to me, but I wanted to be her most loyal customer) and I will be doing this little 5 Senses Unit with my kiddos the week after next. CAN'T WAIT!! I hope you all will support her little store and pick up your copy by clicking on the picture below! It's sooo pretty!

I also have been hard at work because A-I had this week off (I know, I'm lucky! But, who'll be laughing when I am teaching until June 23rd?? That's right, all y'all!) and B-I MUST devote the next 2 weeks to report cards, so there will be NO TPTing in my future. I had to bust a move this week. Here's what I have created...(click on each picture to go right there!)

Of course the March Words are posted (one of my best sellers), but I am oh so excited about my new Weather Centers! I will be teaching about weather in 2 weeks, and this will be PERFECT! 


I now have a grand total of 26 Writing Centers posted in my TPT store. I think I may have a problem and MAYBE I need an intervention! Actually, I did this so that every single kiddo can have a mat if I ever want to use them ALL at the same time for my writing block (I showed them on the Friday before break and they about FLIPPED THEIR LIDS, they were so excited!!), OR for every single possible conceivable theme that I may now or in the future ever teach. I have my eye on making a Luau themed writing center, but I think that maybe is just too obscure! I can't help it!! It's so so cute! 


My husband just looked at me and judged me (In his mind, I can tell!) for typing too long. Men! They just don't understand, do they ladies??

Tuesday Randomness and a Math FREEBIE!

Hi friends! Kerri here...
I have tons to share today and I am not exactly sure why? But anyways, here we go...
Here are my bowl of fruit art projects that I got straight out of the TLC art book "Fall" (Do you have it?? It is seriously AWESOME!) I think they are so sweet and classy...

I like the dots on his letters. I think he was channeling me when he wrote this!

We will be writing about what we are thankful for tomorrow using the paper I shared in this post, and gluing both onto large construction paper to be hung up. Very festive!


Next idea comes straight from my mom, who was a teacher for 35 years and is my hero. She helps out in my classroom every Friday (I know! How spoiled am I??) and she is simply AMAZING! She used to cut out all kinds of pictures from old magazines and have her kids use them as writing prompts. Since she retired, she gives all of the pictures she finds to me so my kiddos can do the same thing. I introduced it today and the kids were SOOO stoked. They thought the pictures were HILARIOUS and the pictures really helped them to describe what they saw in the picture. Check out a few...

Easy, instant writing center, and the kids LOVE it!


Next sharing idea is a foldable flip book. I think this comes from Dinah Zike, who has a plethora of foldable ideas in her books that she sells. This one is my fave because it takes 1 minute to make and is such a good way to reinforce vocabulary that you are working on... Take 3 (or however many you want) pieces of paper, stagger them, fold them over and staple the top. Done and done. We made this one to practice our number words a few weeks back, but we're going to make another one this week to write about and illustrate weather and season words...

I am also super excited about this cute little teacher's apron I saw on Etsy... I wore it for the first time today and it was SOO AMAZING to have everything at my fingertips...pens, erasers, BANDAIDS, nurse passes, stickers, etc. etc. Check it out...

They also have others styles if owls don't float your boat. Of course, I couldn't resist them! :) My kids were very enamored with my apron and were giving me tips about what I should put in the pockets! 

Here is a  Math freebie for you to put into your Math Stations. It is a number word graph using either a 10 sided die or 2 regular dice. The kids roll 'em, add them up or say the number and color one square that has the number word. After rolling for X amount of time, they analyze the data and answer the questions on the back. If you use 2 regular dice and they roll 11 or 12, I just told my kids to roll again...no biggie! I don't know what it is about dice graphing, but my kids go BANANAS over it. You shoulda seen them today in centers!! Click on the picture to download...

Turn Around Facts FREEBIE!!

Hi Friends...
Gonna keep it short and sweet tonight, cause DANG...I am EXHAUSTED. That's what I get for staying up late to watch all my "stories" (Survivor, Parenthood, Chopped, Amazing Race...oh I could go on and on!)
This past week we were learning about adding numbers in any order, so I thought I would make up this little center for my Math Tubs next week. The clip art is from Digital Doodles (TO DIE FOR!) and it is called "Bright Little Houses". I think it is so fun and cheerful, and definitely in my "color scheme!"
This center is of the matching sort, where the kids match the addition fact to it's turn around fact, and I included a "show what you know" worksheet as well! Click to download and Enjoy!

Color Words Graph Freebie!

Hi Peeps! Kerri here again...
I have not been doing a very good job keeping up with Teacher Week 2011. Boo! I only posted Monday so far, and technically this post should be saved for Friday. I wanted to post some pics of my classroom, but since we don't start until September 6th, it is not quite picture ready!! Getting there, but not quite yet...


Lindsay had her baby yesterday (YAY!) and I got to cuddle him today...sooo precious! I am sure she will be posting pictures of him all over this blog as soon as she gets home from the hospital. 


This is a quickie post, just to share a little color words graph I whipped up to have my Firsties work on during the first or second week of school. I plan on giving them baggies of unifix cubes that have all the colors of the rainbow in them and they will sort them, color how many of each, and then analyze the data (just most and least...nothing TOO crazy for the first week of school!) It will also help them practice reading their color words, which most of them hopefully will be able to do (Crossing fingers!)  :)

Domino Fact Families

Is it just my class, or do your kiddos at the end of the year seem to forget how to do things that we have done a BRAZILLION times before? I seriously don't get it!
Anyhoo, here is a little fact family review for those end of the year "What am I going to do to keep these kids engaged??" Although, we have 5, count 'em, 5 weeks left! I know that some of you are done this week or next, so think of me when you are lounging poolside!! :)

Snail Races!

Hi Friends! Kerri here...
Long time, no blog! I was with my family in Williamsburg and Washington, D.C. for the week, and man, is it beautiful back there!! So many trees, and lots and lots of 300 year old bricks, as my daughter would say!

Here's a picture of our adventures!

So, here is a fun little game that my kiddos are obsessed with. It's basically an addition or subtraction graph called "Snail Race" and the object is to see which numbered snail can make it to the top or side first. The kids roll 2 dice, either add or subtract the numbers, depending on which version you give them, and then color in one square that corresponds with the answer on their dice and the snail on the paper. My kids LOVE this game! They are OBSESSED with finding out which snail makes it to the top first. To extend it, I have them write 1st place next to the snail that makes it to the end first, 2nd place next to the next snail, etc. so they have to keep rolling and adding or subtracting. 

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy! 

This game is especially great for your fast finishers who constantly need something to work on!
Lindsay made the addition version and I made the subtraction version. The addition version uses 6 sided dice and the subtraction one uses 10 sided dice. I will be making a more challenging version soon with larger numbers and will post it when I finish making it!
