Five for Friday- New Orleans Style!!

Let the good times roll, Peeps! Kerri here...

It is Friday, so of course I am linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday Linky! I am uber-excited tonight because I get to show Five for Friday all about New Orleans!! Whoo hoo!

And, just because I am oh-so-clever (NOT!), all of my Five will start with the letter F! I know, right??

First up-FOOD! I told you a couple of days ago that they were going to have to roll me out of here on Saturday, and I was NOT LYING! I have felt on the verge of hurling for 4 days straight (too much info?? Sorry, Peeps! Just keeping it real!) AND, I'm a vegetarian, so it's not like I'm eating what everyone else is!! But, its the desserts that are KILLING ME...
Cannolis! We have 4 of these in our fridge right now, and the thought of them makes me feel sickish! They are delicious though...

A praline covered King Cake for Katie's 10th birthday! This thing was GINORMOUS!!

She found the baby!!

Coffee and donuts from Cafe Du Monde!
BBQ Shrimp in creole sauce. My hubby was all over this one...
Old fashioned shrimp and crawfish boil. This one made me gag just looking at it. But everyone else LOVED it!

Seriously...that little dude is staring right at me! Blecch...

Number 2: FUN!!
We went to Mississippi yesterday to visit relatives and they had a WICKED zip line in the back yard, plus lots of other cool things to play on. They even made ME go on it, and this girl DOES NOT do anything remotely scary (BIG. FAT. CHICKEN), but I did it, just one time...
Don't judge the completely TERRIFIED expression on my face!!
Third up...FREAKY!
Is this not the most completely creepy??

Scary mask,  Cirque Du Soleil style!

Voodoo Dolls!!  One for $2.99, 2 for $4!! What a bargain...
scary, dilapidated houses that should be in a Stephen King novel...

Fourth...French Quarter! The French Quarter is BEAUTIFUL!! I had so much fun taking pictures there! I could have take a thousand, seriously...
amazing houses...

ginormous trees...

fabulous cathedrals...

lovely wrought iron...

big old paddle boats...

Fleur De Lys EVERYWHERE!! This one is made out of corks and I. WANT. IT!

Finally...FAMILY!
My family and I got to spend so much time together, I am seriously ready for a break!! HAHA. Just joshing...but really, we had a wonderful time and I am so blessed to have my little family...
My two beauties...

My handsome hubby (BTW, Thank the LORD for the retouch button on iPhoto! I had a MASSIVE pimple on my cheek-what the hell, I am 38 for goodness sake! and iPhoto took it away! Bless you, MAC computer!)

mi familia...
Love you, bloggy friends!!

Erin Go Bragh...already??

Good Evening, Peeps! Kerri here...

Or maybe I should say "Who Dat??" since I am blogging from my hotel room in The Big Easy! We got here yesterday and we are having SO. MUCH. FUN! This was my favorite picture from today...a bead covered tree at Tulane University!

Is that not WICKED AWESOME?? LOVE IT!

So, this post is gonna be SUPER short and sweet because we walked about 5 miles today and I am soooo sleepy, plus I am saving all my cool vacay pics for my Five for Friday post-New Orleans Edition!

Before I left for my trip, I busted a move on my latest set of centers, because I didn't want it hanging over my head while I was enjoying my beignets and coffee at Cafe Du Monde (delicious, BTW!!), so here they are in all their green glory!!

Here's a little sneak peek...

And, here's whats included...8 fun-filled LUCKY centers in all!!

If you are so inclined, and would like to get a jump start on your March planning, you can check these out be clicking the Erin Go Bragh! cover picture above. :)

I'll be back on Friday with my Five for Friday, and I have some super cool pictures to share with you all!!

BTW, it is NOT easy being a vegetarian in New Orleans. I am seriously going to have to be rolled out of here on Saturday...blecch! :)

Nonsenssical Goodness With Dr. Seuss

Howdy folks! Lindsay here . . .

Well, as Kerri mentioned before, we are on a weeklong break from school here - our "Ski Week" as they call it.

(For the record, I have never actually gone skiing during Ski Week break. Or any other time in fact. Quite honestly, they should call this break "Sleep-in-and-eat-too-many-Girl-Scout-cookies Week" . . . but I guess it doesn't have quite the same ring to it.)

But I digress.

In between boxes of Thin Mints I actually have been finding SOME time to be productive here at home. (Thank you Baby Jack for those nice long naps this weekend!)

In preparing for Dr. Seuss's birthday next week and Read Across America Day I created a new TPT pack called Read Across America {Celebrating with books, birthdays and bunches of fun}. Check it out . . .

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Truer words were never spoken – and that is exactly why every year on Dr. Seuss’s birthday we celebrate Read Across America Day! Help your students celebrate reading this year with books, birthdays and bunches of fun! This pack includes many “nonsenssical” and fun activities, such as:

*Read Across America ABC order
*Real vs. Nonsenssical Words (CVC word practice)
*Rhyme Time (identifying and recording rhyming pairs using literature)
*Cats in Top Hats Sentence Scramble
*Write the Room: Read Across American Edition
*Read Across America: Write, Cut & Glue
*Favorite Nonsenssical Book writing paper

Your kids will fall in love with reading and their favorite silly and “nonsenssical” author all over again! Get your Celebrating Read Across America pack today!

(Sidenote: Yes, I did invent the word "nonsenssical", but isn't just perfectly perfect for Dr. Seuss? I thought so.)

Also in the spirit of all things Seuss-related, I am relinking my Dr. Seuss Favorite Book Graph from last year that is no longer up on TPT. (Click on the reading kiddos below to find it on Google Docs.)

Well that's about it for now! I am off to grade some papers and catch up on The Bachelor (I am WAAAAY behind!) with a glass of wine.

That's right. Living it up Ski Week-style! :)

Have a great night folks!

Lindsay

P.S. Okay . . . feeling like y'all might have the impression that I really am just eating Girl Scout cookies all vacation long! Here's what I'm spending MOST of my day doing!! Yes, kissing those cheekers . . . or chasing Jack around trying to wipe his nose, put his clothes back on, take away sharp objects, etc. You get the idea. :)

Okay. Goodnight for real this time! :)

Five for Friday!!

Hello again, Party People! Kerri here...

I am in a GLORIOUS mood because today begins one WHOLE week of VACAY, baby!! YAY!! We get the whole week off next week, and on Tuesday, we leave for New Orleans! Soooo excited!!

I just love Kacey's Five for Friday over at Doodle Bugs Teaching, so I'm linking up again!!

Here we go...Number 1: Valentine Art!
We did all kinds of fun art this week, and I even got a few pics from some of my BOY colleagues' room. Yes, that's right! I teach with 7 boys! It is really amazing! They keep just the right amount of testosterone on campus, and are basically embarrassed on a daily basis by all of our "lady talk" in the lunchroom. It is pretty hilarious!
One of my 2nd grade boy buddies made these WICKED awesome heart mobiles...

Aren't they cool?
And my 3rd grade boy buddy made these AWESOME heart collages, inspired by Megan Wheeler's fabulous post, and a little prompting by me. Actually, I should call it "shaming" by me, since I came in and totally judged the art he was already doing, so he let me strong arm him into doing these!! HA!

 Pretty, right??

Of course, here are the famous LOVE monsters, inspired by Rachelle's post from last year. I just love love love these guys! The teeth are my favorite!

Next up...Mustaches and juicy lips! I bought these funny drink picks from Target before Valentine's Day and took pictures of my kids holding them. They LOVED them...

HILARIOUSNESS! You also have GOT to see these adorable Valentines...
Isn't that PURE genius?? I am TOTALLY stealing this idea for next year!!

Number 3: Carson-Dellosa BOHO birds!
This ginormous box showed up yesterday from Carson Dellosa, full of their new bulletin board set called BOHO BIRDS. I seriously am in LOVE. First of all, BIRDS! Enough said. Second of all, these are TOTALLY my colors. And, thirdly, my back bulletin board needs a face lift in the WORST way! Stay tuned for a bulletin board makeover...

Fourth...We Heart America!
When we get back from break, we will be learning all about our Presidents and America with my We Heart America! Math and Literacy Centers. I am so excited for my kidlets to use these again...
If you are looking to infuse a little Americana into your classroom in the next 2 weeks, you can click on the picture above to check these out!

Finally, Party boat. I'm going to let this one speak for itself...The prompt was "If I had $100..."
Notice the disco ball on the boat? Yup. A disco ball...I mean, it really ISN'T a party boat without a disco ball, is it?? :)

That's all I got! I'm off to Soup Plantation and then my Katie's Talent Show. Happy Friday, friends!
XOXO Kerri B
